The Land of Prydain is a fictionalized version of Wales,where Lloyd Alexander was stationed for a brief time during the Second World War.Alexander also notes that Prydain is different from Wales in both physical geography and history.Alexander also based Prydain on Welsh mythology,especially the Mabinogi.Prydain is engaged in constant battles with it's neighbour,Annuvin,the Land of Death.Once ruled over by Achren,Prydain was liberated by the Sons of Don,who arrived by boat and established a new government at Caer Dathyl.

Caer Dallben (the farm of the enchanter Dallben),Caer Colur (the ruined seat of the extinct House of Llyr) ,Caer Dathyl (the castle of the High king which was built by the Sons of Don),the kingdom Fflewddur rules,Mona (an island of the coast of Prydain) and the Marshes of Morva (a haunted swamp that is home to Orddu,Orwen and Orgoch).Under the Ystrad River is Tylwyth Teg,the underground kingdom of Fair Folk and there is also the Free Commots which are outside jurisdiction.
