Alarca was Aeddan's wife. A "tall, work-hardened woman" with features as lined as her husband's, she brewed a potion of healing herbs to treatTaran's wounds, following his altercation with the warriors of Lord Goryon. Alarca told Taran that Aeddan's and her son Amren was killed in one of the battles of the Valley Cantrevs. Taran wore Amren's jacket for an evening, but returned the garment to Alarca as he turned to the road, grateful for Aeddan's and her kindness.
