The internet is uselss in this case: skeletons look creepier than what Alexander describes, and people prefer the creepier things. I could draw something like what Lloyed Alexander imagines, but other than that, not much. Also it's not the desire to have images, all of the images I saw were taken from the Disney movie The Black Cauldron, which as we all know, is horrible and is totally different from the books.
